No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
