Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
