Caribbean Poker Codes and Hints

Poker has become globally famous lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back quite a bit further than its television scores. Over the years many variants on the earliest poker game have been developed, including a few games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with 21 than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the house rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little bluffing or other types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the dealer declares "No more bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the other players receive five cards each. After you have seen your hand and the dealer’s initial card, you must in turn make a call bet or surrender. The call wager’s value is equal to your original ante, which means that the stakes will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your bet goes instantaneously to the bank. After the wager comes the face off. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, plus a figure equal to the ante. If the dealer does have ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand is greater than the dealer’s hand. The casino pays out chips even with your ante and fixed expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
