No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
