Focus on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Mrs. Duke mightn’t have won her 1st WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most powerful poker competitors around the ring games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "buried game" of Omaha hi lo.

While players from the "younger generation" of poker run wild after a large win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mom" to her four children. Annie was born in New Hampshire into a family of poker competitors. If you do not accept that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to participate in the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has won her cut of challenging tables, which includes eliminating Howard a few times along the way. They are both players that have the skill to acquire the big bucks and do so with a grin.

Mrs. Duke is a tough player at any poker table because she is a real poker player, but it is a little more than just being good at the game. Annie is extremely smart and graduated from Columbia U where she took a double major in Psychology and English.

When you sit across from her at the poker table you will see Annie is there to compete in the game and she starts "sizing" you up as soon as you sit down at the table. If you can not bet like a winner, then do not bother.

Acquiring over 3 million dollars in tournament competitions, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both the UltimateBet poker room and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wished to enhance his talents and become a force at the tables.

You might just see her at the Bellagio, you will see Annie on the tv and you may even participate against her in a web poker match, but don’t count on a simple win. Unless you’re a camp-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. However, it would be fun to mention you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
