No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
